A BIT ABOUT US

Hello.   We are Ringtones, a barbershop quartet situated in Essex.   We are all members of Chelmsford Star Barbershop Harmony Club who rehearse every Monday in Chelmsford.   You can get more information on the chorus by visiting www.chelmsfordstarharmony.co.uk.

This site, however, is all about us.   Ringtones were formed late in 2006 as a sort of 'occasional' quartet but we soon realised that there was more demand for our style of entertainment than we thought there would be.   We therefore decided that it really was time to start spreading our wings and putting together our own repertoire of songs rather than relying on those that we normally perform in the chorus situation.   Rehearsals now take place at every opportunity and work is going on apace on new numbers.

WHO'S WHO?

Our lead singer is MARTIN who lives in Chelmsford.   The job of the lead is to sing the melody of the song - the bit that people recognise immediately - well, sometimes.   Martin also sings with the highly successful and much acclaimed duo 'Heartbeat' who are just about to release their first CD.

PETER, from Hatfield Peverel is our tenor.   The tenor harmonizes above the lead's melody to create a sort of descant.

John is a resident of Heybridge and sings bass, the lowest harmonizing notes and a part considered as the 'foundation' of four part singing.

At baritone, arguably one of the more difficult voice parts, NICK from Braintree sings the notes that complete the chord, usually below the lead and above the bass.   We jokingly say that these are the notes that nobody else wants!

Ringtones are a registered quartet with the British Association of Barbershop Singers and carry full Public Liability Insurance.

We should be pleased to hear from you if you would like to know more about booking the quartet for your function.   We can adapt ourselves to just about anything and have already sung at company dinners, Women's Institute functions, birthdays, weddings, garden fetes, charity functions and retirement homes.   We were honoured in 2007 to be asked to sing at the Mayor of Colchester's Oyster Feast and also to perform regularly at the National Trust's Hyde Hall Gardens.

By telephoning or emailing us you will be under no obligation at all and will not be pressurised into making a booking.   The choice is entirely yours.
